The Pink Bus

The Pink Bus and Other strange Tales from LaLa Land actually got its start a long time ago. I wrote a short story right into this blog around Christmas 2014 called The Meaning of Christmas and thought I’d keep a copy in my desktop folder just in case. I went back to it a few times, tweaked it, edited it and so on but couldn’t really think how to build upon it. Then, as things do, a few weeks ago, I started writing short stories. They simply poured out of me one after the other and they all seemed to be themed around death, reincarnation, ghosts and supernatural activity and the meaning of life in general. That was when I saw where the Meaning of Christmas belonged…. I honestly think

Magical Books

For anyone interested in magic, I want to outline the three books that I have written or co-written on the topic and why you might consider reading them. If you have always had a passing interest in magic, alchemy and the occult in general then you might want to look at my very first book – Inner Journeys: Explorations of the Soul published in 2006 by Thoth. It is available in paperback and Kindle formats. The book is autobiographical in that I try to paint a picture of my childhood and background in which poltergeist and ghosts caused me all sorts of issues. As I grew up, I developed an interest in the occult but other then reading avidly I did nothing about it until about 15-years ago when I

Three Words Guaranteed To Send Me Into Apoplexy

Like so many other wanna be magicians, I do try to work on myself – flaws and weaknesses – at least those I am aware of. One of my flaws is certainly that I have a quick temper. I can light up like an explosion with anger and yet 45 seconds later, have forgotten all about it. I.e. My temper is quick and there are few long lasting effects unless of course, my tongue operated without the brain…. which, in an outbreak of temper is often the case. I am trying to work on this for I know I need to. There are three words however, that despite my best attempt, will cause an immediate explosion of magnitude 10. What are they? Climate Change Denier. Yes, if you want to

Time and The Dream

Last night I had one of those dreams that has you questioning everything. The alarm went off and I woke up. On waking, I recalled that I had just been dreaming and that the dream had been about setting the alarm. Now at first sight, this perhaps isn’t so puzzling but, when you think a bit deeper about it it most certainly is. I woke up as the alarm started to sound yet in the prior moments, I was dreaming about setting that very alarm. Exactly how does that work? Could it be that future events create our past and this is some type of evidence of it? Was the dream experienced as the alarm went off and only seemed to take place before it woke me up? Did I

Chaos Rising

A couple of decades ago, as walls in Europe fell, one felt as if perhaps humanity was on a good path. There was a sense of the old restrictions falling away and the smell of opportunity was in the air. One felt as if the forces of chaos were momentarily in retreat and the forces of light began to move forward. People wanted their freedom, they were ready to embrace the new structures that were emerging and the ugly side of chaos – nationalism – was in retreat. Contrast that with today. Nationalism is rampant again seized upon by Politicians eager to point fingers at scapegoats like immigrants, Mexicans, Homosexuals and any other group perceived to be the villain and easy to blame. The UK wants out of the EU,

Self-Publishing Pop

I’m not sure why I write books. It’s certainly not for the money! I guess I just enjoy the challenge of creating something, floating it by people and seeing if I can make a success of it! To me, putting out books has something of the flavor of the pop industry in the 70’s – you put out a single and watch it chart – or not – hoping to be #1 on the hit parade for a week or two all the while knowing that you are only getting a small pittance for the record. It is simply fun. Especially when combined with things that interest you. You see, I enjoy strange stories of the paranormal, I am interested in the occult, magic and the nature of reality –

So Many questions….

Got to love the laughter Got to give it soul No way that should matter After all, it’s just another hole Falling in and falling out This is the year of doubt I’m not sure what’s up Not sure what’s in or out I’m spinning away slowly Lazily heading south Words are forming But never leave my mouth The journey continues But does it have a purpose Does it have a reason or why? Does it end when I die? Did anything truly matter? A burst of energy Scattered light too bright A burning forgotten moment Coming just to be going Here just to be gone Now I am longing To know To learn What was it all about?

Listen and learn – my encounter narrating a life changing book by Lorraine Ansell

Being a professional voice over is great. I learn so many things from the scripts I get sent. Whether it be factual, fictional or a mix, every day is filled with new things to learn. I sit in my studio reading and marking up texts and not just reading, but understanding the words and their meaning. From fun crazy voices to serious news delivery and everything in between I get to voice a lot of creative ideas. One day it might be narrating about training modules, guiding people through various tasks. Another day, an advert. And then on another day it might be an audiobook or poetry. It means that I get the chance to continually learn new things – I should do more quiz nights with the knowledge I

Magic Is All Around

That magic works is obvious. All you have to do is observe a bit to see magic in action all around you.  Let’s take a few examples of what I am talking about shall we? The Placebo Effect – defined as follows by Wikipedia – “Also called the placebo response. A remarkable phenomenon in which a placebo — a fake treatment, an inactive substance like sugar, distilled water, or saline solution — can sometimes improve a patient’s condition simply because the person has the expectation that it will be helpful.” The problem I have with this definition is the word ‘fake’. There is nothing fake about the magical power of the subconscious mind! Magic works on faith, belief and imagination. The more that you believe something to be so, the

Sickened by Conspiracy

Last night, I tapped into the search bar on You tube ‘David Bowie interviews’. I was amazed, saddened and yes, deeply angered by what came up. Video after video proclaiming Bowie a satanist who has faked his own death and much worse. I fear that this has become an epidemic and it is one I personally have no time for whatsoever. Actually, there are two issues at play here. First, the term ‘satanist’ combined with ‘satan’ or ‘the Devil’ and secondly, the idea that people haven’t died – including school kids in the US and famous people like David Bowie. Let’s deal with the first one first. There are satanists. They do indeed exist. However, all the evidence around David Bowie is that he had an interest in the occult
