About My Books

Mad Gods and Englishmen by Ian Armer

Every now and then you stumble on a surprising book. Something entertaining that also makes you think. I would characterize Mad Gods and Englishmen by Ian Armer in that category. It is a fast-paced novel that almost from the first page is deliciously off-the-wall and yet takes the form of a familiar detective story set on the west coast of the USA. The hero or more likely, ant-hero, is one Tommy Storm; a down on his luck alcoholic private detective whose brains are more than likely situated in his trousers. He’s a loathsome character if the truth be told. The kind of chap I would go miles to avoid. However, there is his doppleganger, the other Tommy Storm who is the light to the other’s darkness. Right from the off,

Poems for the Little Room

This morning I went down to the post office with a delivery slip. I had hoped it was a shipment of the Mystical Hexagram but in fact it was five copies of my second poetry book from Lulu called Poems for the Little Room. I had never before ordered a copy so it was the first time I had seen it on paper…. Well, I must congratulate Lulu. It is beautifully put together and I am really very happy with it. Having said that, it is rather pricey for a little book but still…. The quality more than makes up for it. The book contains a bunch of more recent poems combined with photographs taken by my partner and together, it makes for a pleasant experience especially given the quality

The Fool

In Inner Journeys, I took some of my magickal diary extracts and interspersed them through the book for effect and to reinforce the content…. Here is one from the book on The Fool. The Fool seems foolish because he is not limited by rules or conventions – the barriers that we create for ourselves in this world. I say that I can’t do something because I believe that I cannot or I have been told that I cannot but the Fool has no expectations and does whatever. Not knowing that “it cannot be done” he does it anyway. The limitations that we apply to ourselves do not apply to the Fool. This is not to say that natural laws can be broken but that self-limitations do not exist. As the

The Labyrinth of Time by Anthony Peake

Time is probably the greatest enigma of them all and yet it is our most precious commodity. In my busy daily life it seems to me that time is getting faster and faster and, the older I get, its speed simply increases. Yet there are still 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day. There are though moments when time stops and I instinctively understand that time is unreal. In meditative states, time becomes what it probably really is – an illusion created to bring order to my existence. Time is the topic addressed in Anthony Peake’s book “The Labyrinth of Time”. Peake’s style is to explore every conceivable avenue around and through a topic and so we are presented with subjects ranging from quantum physics and

The Hexagram and Kybalion

The new book – The Mystical Hexagram: The Seven Inner Stars of Power by SC Vincent and myself – gets into a discussion of what I call ‘polarity’. The Polarity displayed by the Hexagram as a symbol is actually best viewed when the Hexagram is overlaid on the Tree of Life. In fact, the book looks at the three types of polarity implicit in the Hexagram as well as what I call the Three Cycles (which interestingly enough equate to the three Alchemical Principles of Salt, Mercury and Sulphur!) as well as the Fire and the Water triangles that, interlaced, form the hexagram. But … back to polarity. Today, I was re-reading the Kybalion book by the Three Initiates. It suddenly struck me that the three polarities observed in the

Labyrinth of Time

Tonight I found in my mailbox a copy of Anthony Peake’s Labyrinth of Time book. I can’t wait to read it and post a review here later. I reviewed Anthony’s first book some time ago and he has gone from strength to strength with several new books all building in one way or another on his first Is There Life after Death?. I recently made friends with him on Facebook and hope to catch up with him and his activities soon in more detail. I will also be interested on his take on our new book – The Mystical Hexagram. The amazon description of the book is as follows – In The Labyrinth of Time, Anthony Peake explores the relationship between consciousness and reality, and in the process puts forward
