About My Books

Czechia

My recent little book – Chasing the Shaman – seems to be doing quite well. It’s not one I expect to make the bestsellers list but I think it will find its audience through time. Talking of the book, author and magician Alan Richardson just kindly left this 5-star review on Amazon.co.uk.   To my shame I know nothing about the Czech Republic, and could not point out its location on a map. Nor could I offer you even the smallest morsel of information about its history or its myths, legends and deities. Yet Gary Vasey, a Yorkshireman, has shown that by making contact with the Spirit of the Land, Czechia can be seen as universal, with marvels that can resonate with all of us everywhere. He tells his story

Where Are the Reviewers?

I have been working my back catalog of books recently – changing covers and reworking descriptions and so on. It has had some positive results and sales are up! However, in doing this, it struck me – where are the reviews? It seems very few people review my books on Amazon and yet this is soooo important for authors. Rather than build an army of loyal fans like Steph Young, for example, who gets upwards of 70 reviews on her books and has a vibrant FB page despite the fact she posts nothing at all, all I seem to attract for my efforts is the odd mean 1-star review filled with falsities about poor editing and so on (I assume this is a competitor as it always pretty much the

Revisiting The Old Hag

Last night I re-edited, re-titled and re-covered my book originally called ‘Riding the Old Hag’. I thought that an excellent title by the way but….. maybe not. So now it has the title – Basic Instinct: Erotic Paranormal Contact – The Old Hag and the Mysterious World of Sleep Paralysis. The content remains the same but this book didn’t seem to get the attention that it deserved. You see, after a life time of paranormal activity and as a result of my clairvoyance and magical training, I slowly came to a startling conclusion. I had long had my suspicions and throughout all of my paranormal books, I will comment on the nature of reality. However, when researching the black-eyed kids and trying to explain whet they were, I started to

An Amazon #1

It has been a while since I felt that little thrill you get when Amazon places that small but oh so important icon next to your book image – Best Seller!!! But, it has happened again! Chasing the Shaman, my latest book, is (as of writing) #1 in new releases in Gaia Religions category! I’m very pleased and hope that it gets some attention now via the Amazon engine.     For me, this is yet another bit of magic that proves the magic that I wrote about in the book….. And, if you have read my recent blog posts, you will know that the ‘magic’ continues… I’m now hoping to see a review or two (and hoping they are positive). Meanwhile, to buy the book in Kindle or paperback

The Lesson of Sam White

After having quite a few successful books out – all in the supernatural category. I put out a beautiful set of fictional short stories on a metaphysical theme. I had it professionally edited. I released it under what I thought was a pretty good title with a lovely looking cover…. The Pink Bus and Other Strange Tales from LaLa Land…… It sort of died. I couldn’t believe it. It was my favorite work and some of the stories I had thought were really quite good. I recall the editor – who I tremendously respect as a write in her own right (Alienora Taylor) told me she loved it. But despite free give aways, discounts and so on, it barely sold…. just 40 copies in 6 months with 98 free copies

The Trigger for Chasing the Shaman

The idea fr my new book – Chasing the Shaman – a sort of follow on to my very first book – Inner Journeys – came from a startling and accidental meet up with a real live shaman here in Brno. Unfortunately, that first time when he scared me in an out of the way seating area beneath the Castle here, I didn’t have the guts to ask him what he was doing and why? And perhaps, more importantly, would he please teach me! I know some people will simply think I have a strong imagination – I do! – but I have been watching for signs of this guy for two Moons now – yes, Moons. He is constantly working with is stones and other objects in plain sight

Astral Messages – New Look

The next book to get the treatment and a new look is one from 2013 called Astral Messages. This is a short blog post and accompanying poem collection and I still think its a nice little book that should have done better so… it got another edit over the weekend and a new cover.     In common with all my recent covers, I am using my own photos. The book is for sale here.

Astral Messages

Deep and deeper into fiery depths Down and down ‘neath the cooling stillness Where obscured symbols serve for words And standing stones encircle scented voids Ancient primordial creatures stir And other strange images form down there Midst blue and emerald mind mists And the elemental mysteries of inner Earth Where fires’ flames lick and dance And the shimmering air swirls entranced Crystalline waters trapped as precious opals Sublime and regal royals enthroned Through all eternity as cold and darkened stones Images move and rise and fall Emerging, emerging and then not at all Half-formed figures born floating linger Whispers and soundless sounds as tinder To spark and fuel those inner flames Astral messages calling ancient names Billowing, enduring truths exclaimed   From the book Astral Messages: The Poems and Thoughts

Two Newly Dressed Up Compilations

A couple of years ago, in a fit of madness, I created two new compilation books. For some reason, I gave them very similar names and then sat back and forgot about them. Then the other night when counting sales and so on, I realized that these books had bad titles and horrible covers. So I redid them.   Your Haunted Lives Extreme Edition (Compilation Volume) For some reason, I had the great idea to make a compilation of the best selling Your Haunted Lives with its follow up, Your Haunted Lives revisited but to call it Paranormal Eyewitness!?! I’m not sure what I was thinking as the My Haunted Life series’ compilation was always called My Haunted Life Extreme Edition. The cover was also truly awful. So, here we

Book Stats

Last night, for some reason, I spent several hours updating my book sales spreadsheet. I had the last 12 months or so to fill in so it took quite a while. I have several years of sales data now in the spreadsheet. It was an interesting exercise….. here is what I learned. I have sold around 18,000 books excluding my business books. My all time best selling book is Your Haunted Lives which has now sold around 3500 copies. For three to four months, this book was selling over 120 copies a month! Released in January, 2016, it went to #1 on Amazon in multiple categories across the supernatural genre. It is available in ebook, paperback and audio nook formats. These days, it still sells double figure every month but
