For those of you who read my novella The Last Observer and liked it, there might be some good news…. Edward is back! Yes, the thoughtful Magician who tried to save Stanley from being snuffed out by a black magic lodge, is the key character in the prequel follow up – The Lord of the Elements – out soon. I am in the last chapter or so now and will soon be issuing it in Kindle format. Although it is a prequel, it should be read after The Last Observer otherwise it will spoil that book’s plot. Perhaps it is best positioned as book #2 in a series that investigates Edward’s past. Drawing on my magical knowledge and interest, The Lord of the Elements includes a magic ritual that goes

When I wrote The Last Observer, I never imagined that a real fight for reality would actually happen. However, inundated with information, we are subject to all sorts of reality creating content – some of it fake and much of it it twisted. Be aware that there is a battle going on for your mind and this battle isn’t what it seems. You see your mind is a powerful reality creating device and if someone can hijack your mind and get it working in a certain way, they can use you to create the reality that they want. The media and politicians, religious zealots, and others have always used this technique but today, the tools to do so are easy to obtain. We tend to surround ourselves with reality reinforcing

Yesterday, I reached a new milestone with just over 700 audiobooks sold in the 12-months since I launched the first. There is an audience for audiobooks and it is a bit different to the ebook and paperback audience. Today, another book from my back catalog became available as an audiobook – My Haunted Life 3 – and several more are in production including the Extreme edition of the My Haunted Life series, The Last Observer and my latest Kindle book – The Black Eyed Kids. The monthly sales royalties for audiobooks also have helped move my earnings into reasonable territory. I can now safely say that my royalties exceed $6000pa from all sources and growing. Audiobooks have been a large part of that. Audiobooks are fun to put together too.

As a writer who publishes his own books, any way to get to an audience and make additional sales is of value. About 6-months ago I thought I would have a shot at audiobooks via ACX – Amazon’s audiobook platform. Today, I sold my 500th audiobook! I am reaching a different audience using the audiobook as well and I do think that is helping book sales generally. I am on for a record year and currently have 4 books in the UK supernatural top 50 including an audio book! The ACX program is a bit rigid but it is quite easy to navigate. Firstly, you sign up for your account and then you identify your books – those you want to create audiobooks with anyway. Then, you look for a

The Last Observer – my foray into the novel or rather novella. A story in which I tried to explore the idea that nothing exists unless it is observed by a sentient consciousness. My hero, Stanley, was a man who read anything and everything in so doing, developed his imaginative faculties to such a degree that he in essence became a magician, able to create reality simply by imagining it although he didn’t know it. He was inadvertently dragged into a plot to reimagine the world by a group of evil magicians and was rescued by the hero – Edward. I re-read it recently and I still think its a quite good and certainly worthy of a read. I have also been working on a follow up on and off

If you needed a reminder of just how different people are take a look at any book on Amazon with a number of reviews – even Shakespeare’s sonnets. There you will find the entire gamut of people’s perceptions as reviews. The Last Observer, my paranormal novella, has quite a lot of reviews as well and I was just going through them on Amazon and Goodreads to see what people thought. There are 25 reviews on Amazon.com and it has an average of 4.4 out of five which I will happily take all day. The book has 17 5-star reviews, 4 four-star, 2 3-star and 2 one-star reviews and no two-star reviews as yet. But consider some of the comments…. We have this on the one hand – “This book was

What is it like to be attacked by a black magician? Well, I wrote a short scene in my novel The Last Observer about a psychic attack on the hero of the story Stanley. My inspiration for this actually came from several sources. The first is the attack on Frabato the Magician by a satanic lodge in Germany that is recounted in the book of the same name by Franz Bardon (who was an amazing magician by all accounts and who I cover in my latest book – Wizards, Warlocks and Magicians). When I first read that account, I was terrified and it stuck with me for several decades as a crazy example of what it feels like to be attacked by magic. Another inspiration was another deeply influential book
