The ‘Bad’ Review

One of the things you have to develop a thick skin for if you put yourself out there, is the bad review…. No one likes a bad review and I have heard many actors, writers etc. state that they never read reviews because they simply can’t abide it when they get a bad one. Having said that, a bad review is inevitable. Everyone is different and has their own view. So last night I found my first ‘bad’ review. I was googling to see if there were any more reviews and I found it. Actually, it isn’t all bad news. The reviewer actually enjoyed the book and gave it 8/10 for plot but he hated my writing and character development. It is hard to read negative stuff and one immediately

Viral Thinking

What if The Last Observer took off? I mean really took off. If it sold, hundreds of thousands of copies. I have been just occasionally letting myself dream such things in the hope that, if I think and believe it, it will happen. Funny though because this thought is always rapidly followed by that other little voice that says ‘You stupid bugger! Who would buy your book?‘ It’s that second little voice that stops us all from dreaming too much but actually, if we listened to it too much, we would never do anything at all. I set myself a goal with The Last Observer. It is this – minimum 3000 copies sold. 3000 isn’t that big of a number is it? Actually, I do think 300,000 would be achievable

WitchHazel’s Review of The Last Observer

Merry meet! For some time now I have been thinking about reviewing books, but never quite managed to start doing so. All that has changed following my receiving a review copy of a forthcoming book. “The Last Observer” is an amazingly absorbing story about the nature of reality and it’s manipulation. It focuses on Stan, a man who finds the world he can create in his head is far more satisfying than the mundane world we all live in, and how he gets drawn into a dangerous world where people want to use his imagination to change the reality we all know. While the story itself is very well written, with characters you can relate to from the start, what I found most intriguing was the application of quantum theory

Another Review for The Last Observer

My thanks to SC Vincent for this one – and my thanks also to her for encouraging me to write this story by demanding the next chapter each time I sent her an update…. How would you feel if the reality you knew as intimately as your own thoughts was suddenly brought into question? If, in fact, you became aware that the two were inextricably linked, not just within the confines of your imagination, but in actuality? And if you could begin to understand this strange, unsettling concept, what would you do when it was borne upon you that someone wanted to hijack that reality, twisting it for their own ends and putting more at risk than your life? Such is the position in which Stanley finds himself. He is

First Independent Review by Alienora Taylor

‘The Last Observer’ by Dr G. Michael Vasey Review by Alienora Taylor Read at a gallop, this slim racehorse of a novel impressed me enormously with its speed and performance. I was unable to halt the literary ‘ride’ – and nor, in all honesty, did I wish to! Dr Vasey plays with the conventional understanding of the word ‘observer’ to create a very different ‘tune’, one which contains within it the ability – inherent within most esoteric training – to affect reality through the medium of the imagination, of thought. And, in Vasey’s intense fictional world, it is precisely this ability which is under attack by what could be defined as the Dark Side. I do not wish to give the plot away because I think there is something to

The Last Observer’s First Chapter

It is short but it sets the scene….. Chapter 1 A Dead Psychic There was something remarkable about Michael Kent. His crystal-clear and deep-set blue eyes, sunken into a pale and haggard face, seemed to penetrate into the depths of your very soul. He appeared to be capable of reaching inside of you so that he could search through your entire contents without first having had the courtesy to ask. Michael was a well-known psychic in those parts. Locally famed, and at the same time loathed, for his apparent ability to help the local constabulary solve unsolvable crimes. Yet now he was an unsolvable crime himself. Kent had been found dead just outside of his favorite pub, the Rose and Crown. The back of his head caved in like a

Reality – Imagined for Free

Here is a poem from my forthcoming book – Astral Messages. It will be published in the Fall after The Last Observer…. Silence is an innaccurate word Loud, it is full of strangeness Listen, for there you find infinity Otherworld’s sounds purred back to us Sight is certainly not to see Filled with images though it may be In fact, there are multitudes of otherworld’s paralleled stacked awaiting Open your senses Imagine and see Open your inner eye Imagine and be Fantasy is fantastical you see Truth fleeting hovers and flits there Grasp it by the toe and we’ll agree Reality is unlimited and imagined for free likeheartlaughterwowsadangry0

Meet Zeltan

Zeltan is the leader of a black magic lodge in the The Last Observer. His intent is to change reality – our reality – to something different, something evil and sinister. A reality also desired by his master – the Lord of the Elements. Zeltan’s Lodge of the Elements consists of rich, powerful and famous people who use their powers to to get richer, stay powerful and be more famous. The Lodge is loosely modeled on the satanic FOGC Lodge from Franz Bardon’s Frabato. In fact, there is quite a bit of Bardon influence in the book. As Gordon Strong says in his review “We all perceive reality differently, yet the evil Zeltan plans to control the universal consciousness. Because Stanley possesses a unique imagination, he is marked as another
