One Night’s Dream (from Weird Tales: Otherworld Poetry)

It’s tempting to look out Of the window sometimes To see the light once again The painted sill comes nearer The potential thrill of the view The glass is frosted And outside it is cold Reminds me of cities of old The vision is blurred and Indescribable Yet real, real The Sun is shining Just a globe in the North Still, it’s tempting to look The sky looks good In shades of pink and gold Taking another sniff Of my personal tube of glue It rains and night moves on Into something more eerie The eyes of the night Catch yours And the Man in the Moon Talks for a while Of all he saw before you But none since the last Has yet learned the thrill Of the planet

And Finally….

Yes…… the sun is shining here in Prague. The rain starts again tomorrow though. So, I am going to keep it short so I can sit in that strange thing called sunlight for just a little while. The Last Observer is selling already – very slowly but it has some pre-orders and this is great news….. Meanwhile, I am working on Astral Messages – a new book of poetry. Can’t stay still for a minute….. Nice weekend folks!

Why is Life so Dirty?

Filth and dirt A constant bloody mess Pots and clothes pile up Why is life so messy? Dust and dog hairs And even worse awaits us A microbe infested sea Why is life so dirty? Grime and grease Smelly, slimy rot Puddles of stinky pee Why is life so grimey? Plastic gloves and plastic bags Mops and buckets too Why is life so slimey? We are dirt A bag of shit and piss bile, spittle and worse And life is simply dirty!

Recurring Dreams

I have always had recurring dreams. Sometimes, its the same dream but most often I recognize the place in my dream and expand upon it. In the latter, I guess I can also be lucid. Most of my recurring dreams involve houses – huge houses. There are always rooms in those houses that I really like but I never use and in the dream, I am exploring these rooms with a sense of wonderment. I suppose, this is really a self exploration and these unused rooms are perhaps areas of myself that I do not give sufficient attention to. I also have another recurring dream about places. Usually, this involves tunnels and streets and I am lost. I know I am not far from home but I can’t actually get

London

Well, I hadn’t been to London in a while and how it has changed! Its a big building site in the City but I understand most of these new buildings remain empty or will be empty when completed. For me, London has become a very modern and actually very nice city with all of that recent development. However, it takes ages to get around the city. We took a cab from Tower Bridge to one of the railway stations and it took around 40 minutes and costs a small fortune. The driver did take us the scenic route though it would seem and I was able to get a look at Big Ben and Buckingham Palace en route… I was hoping to make it over to Watkins Book shop but

London Here We Come!

Well, unless by tomorrow early afternoon we are finally under water after all the rain we are having, I will be headed to London for a couple of days for a business trip. This most likely means I won’t post anything on my blogs….much to everyone’s relief. However, I did have a guest article published yesterday on Dee Doanes blog so possibly y’all could go check that out while I am gone??? Instead of writing I hope I will get to do some reading as I have loaded my iPad Kindle app with some good stuff….. Wonder if it will ever stop raining here in Prague? Normally by now I’d have a tan. This year I am rusting. See ya…

The FBAR – One of the Joys of Keeping US Citizenship

I got an email reminder from my accountant this morning…. oh joy of joys, it is FBAR time. Just to remind everyone what this is it is a report required of all US citizens living abroad (commonly known as tax evading criminals). I reproduce his email below just so you can see what all is involved in that invasion of my privacy by the US Government…. The bolding is mine… The Foreign Bank Account Report, or TDF 90-22.1 is due to be received by the Department of the Treasury no later than the 30th of June, 2013. Please remember that the FBAR requires you to present information about all non-US bank accounts, brokerage accounts or life insurance/pension insurance securities accounts in which you have a > 50% financial interest, or

My Best Selling Book

I think people outside of the book publishing and writing business have little clue as to how it really works. I am going to tell you all what my best selling book is…. (drum roll)….. Here it is…. Yes – it’s one of my business books. It has sold to date some 905 copies. Patrick and I are very pleased with its sales and the fact that it continues to sell every month. My second best selling book is it’s companion – Trends in ETRM Software: A Primer with 670 sales and still selling. Not far behind is Inner Journeys: Explorations of the Soul from Thoth. I have a target for my new book – The Last Observer. It’s a real stretch. I’d like it to sell 3000 copies. The

Weird Tales

Many moons ago I published my second book – Weird Tales: Otherworld Poetry. I self-published via the Amazon publisher Booksurge. Its a small book and it has barely sold more than 30 copies I reckon but then it is a poetry book! You see, everyone writes poetry and many of us also think our poems are the bees knees – me included! I have learned since 2006, when it was published, that poetry doesn’t sell very well. I think its because the poems that we write are personal. They have real meaning to us but perhaps not to others. Poems are our way to resolve pain, say what we truly feel and get our emotions on paper. There are words I could use to tell you Exactly how I feel

Back in Sales Mode!

I recently swapped the security of a quite fat monthly paycheck for the lifestyle of a business owner and entrepreneur. I partnered up with my long time buddy and business associate, Patrick Reames, who is based in Houston, TX in Commodity Technology Advisory. For the time being, I am working out of the spare room at home after all, all I need is a PC, phone and internet connection. I could, in fact, be located anywhere……..(there’s a thought!). Working for yourself is great fun. You can be creative, pick your own hours, choose who to work with and what to do. The problem is that you have to generate cash too. That’s the tricky part. I have always been quite good at sales. If anything, I tend to oversell. Given
