Unconditional Love

Driving up to Prague this evening I was thinking a lot about my Dad. Parents love their children unconditionally. Or at least – they should. I got to thinking that my Dad was special because not only did he love his kids unconditionally but he never ever asked for anything in return. Unconditional love isn’t just about loving some one for who they are – warts and all – but, its also about not asking for anything back. I think that’s actually quite a rare thing.

A Thank You!

Well I am more than two weeks post operative and feeling quite good. Some of you may be aware that I had a benign tumor removed from my colon. For those interested it was 4.5cm in diameter and essentially a fatty growth but it was causing me some issues. The surgery was laproscopic, took 6 1/2 hours and removed about 10cm of my colon. I count myself fortunate that the tumor was benign and that the Czech’s could do the procedure laproscopically. I now have five healing holes in my abdomen but the stitches came out yesterday. This was pretty major surgery by all accounts and so I want to thank all of you who held me in your thoughts, prayers and meditations – don’t stop just yet though –

Bardon’s Mirrors

Recently, I decided to start working the exercises in Bardon’s Initiation into Hermetics. I am starting at the very beginning in which one of the exercises is to essentially spend a lot of time noting all of your weaknesses and faults. These are then matched to one of the four elements and also to a level of seriousness of fault. One then repeats that for positive qualities and these become Magical Mirrors of the Soul. Let me tell you its an interesting exercise. At first, its problematic to come up with qualities actually either negative or positive but after a while and, through indirect inquiry of others, you start to get pretty good at it and my lists are prolific already (and I am not done yet!). I’m afraid I

The BIG Question

You know, I get it. I do. But in getting it I find I don’t quite actually get it. God is love. Truth is truth. I AM. My self is eternal and it observes and it thinks in mind. My mind is My Kingdom and the Self is the King within that Kingdom. I need little but desire much in interacting with the material world. My will counteracts my desire falling back to what I need not desire. My desire unless controlled though will traps me in this world and thus I make mistakes. Through Love I have to accept and acknowledge these and make amends. Yes – its all good stuff. But something is wrong here and I do not know what it is….. This all supposes I act

Reality….

As I have continued to ponder reality I came across this article. I don’t entirely agree with some of it but I think his analogies are wonderful and, since I don’t think I could quite do as good a job, I am posting it here. It came from a blog called The Cleaver by Neil Kramer. Unfortunately that site has gone and has been replaced by a much more commercial website at neilkramer.com. Since I am fully attributing it, I hope he doesn’t mind me borrowing it! Here it is in full…. Unplugging The Matrix: Generate Your Own Reality Sooner or later the intelligent human mind realizes that reality is an illusion. This operates on many levels: perceptual, historical, political, molecular, spiritual. Depending on knowledge, circumstances and belief system –

Exactly What Reality Are We Creating?

Regular visitors will know that I believe that we create our own reality so today I want to ask you – what reality are we all creating? The Power of Thought Your thoughts are powerful. Your thoughts create. Some would argue that thoughts create in what is often termed as the ‘astral plane’ – which is a sort of substratum on which the physical world around us is based. If this is true then what do you think about? What sort of astral world are you creating? As I have said in previous posts, the world around us helps govern our thoughts. Watch the news, read a newspaper – its all doom and gloom. Stories of war, famine, violence, global warming and terrorism – to name a few things. We

Inner Journeys ReVisited

When I wrote Inner Journeys some of the first people to read it were my family – parents and brothers. I recall being a bit worried about what they would think and say but to my surprise their comments were to correct inaccuracies as they saw them in my narrative in the book! In the book, I recount my first experience of well… something. I was perhaps 3-years old and was sleeping in my bedroom when I awoke for some reason. I saw a blue elf jump out of the mirror in the wardrobe and look at me. Of course, I screamed as a small child might. Not so said my Father. His recollection is that a blue elf jumped out of the mirror and shot me with a little

Acting The Fool

I was listening to music this morning on my phone. Somehow that music took over and I sort of went into a meditational state. It was then that it suddenly came to me. To be true to myself I must be the Fool. Now frankly, this insight is nothing new. I even discuss it in my book – Inner Journeys. But, it was a powerful reminder and it came with a real sense of understanding. The type of understanding that makes sense at the time but it difficult to actually pinpoint later. But my thoughts gravitated to the description of the Fool tarot on a website that I use as a resource… http://www.ata-tarot.com/resource/cards/ Here it is…. The Fool Without the notion of Zero, our system of mathematics becomes meaningless. Similarly,

Madonna & Child – Thoughts

Any church or art museum is full of paintings of the Madonna and child. But is there an occult meaning or symbolism behind these religiously inspired images and what is the meaning of the black Madonna? In recent meditations focused on the anima or inner female, the image of the Madonna and child has continually come to mind. Could it be that the Madonna represents the anima, the inner female, the soul? And is the child she bears proudly in her arms the fruit of a union between the outer self of the artist and his inner female. The solar child? Most of these images were painted in a male dominated society – at a time when males were dominant in society. If it were the other way round, would

Love As Acceptance

Today, Asteroth told me write about love. I asked for more detail and she said ‘love as acceptance’. I didn’t need anymore words because the words themselves conveyed the entirety of the suggestion. This is a difficult concept to explain but it seemed as if the words themselves conveyed the feeling and understanding of love as acceptance. It’s as if the words are only a key to a packet of understanding which opens up and engulfs me. What those words conveyed to me was along the lines that when we are told to ‘love one another’, we are told to accept one another for what we are and what we have the potential to be. It’s a surrendering of one’s own ego and viewpoint. A letting go of our own
