Japanese Ghosts

Not content with writing ghosts books I am now also publishing them. My brand – Asteroth’s Books – will publish a new book by Thomas Bauerle called Kanashibari – True Encounters of the Paranormal soon. It’s a really good book with many stories of Japanese ghosts and paranormal phenomena and I am loving the cover…. So, if anyone wants their book published and it is in the right genre (paranormal etc.), consider Asteroth‘s Books – we publish and promote your book…. Also coming soon – The Lord of the Elements …. likeheartlaughterwowsadangry0

She Is still Out There

Back in the 70’s and early 80’s, I was still playing guitar with various bands. I don’t know why I stopped really as it was tremendous fun. I was also writing a lot of songs and in one instance was asked to write songs for amateur dramatics version of a play. Anyway, recently I bought a new guitar and thought I’d play around with garageband. She’s out there is a song I wrote in 1979 would you believe…. Here is the song ….. likeheartlaughterwowsadangry0

The Blogger’s Nightmare?

I have been blogging for years. Really! I built my first blog back in 2004 and have been going ever since. In all that time, I have continually wondered if I am just talking to myself? A quick look at visit stats tells me I am not of course but it is definitely a blogger’s nightmare. On the other hand, why would it be so bad? Isn’t blogging the modern equivalent of writing a diary? likeheartlaughterwowsadangry0

Review, reviews, reviews

I am always grateful for a review. They are the life blood of writing and writers. However (Yes, gripe following….) Could someone tell me why people request free books – any free book it seems, and then write a 1-star review saying “This was not my cup of tea”. To me, this is like kicking a gift horse well and truly smack in the mouth! You asked, you got, it turns out it wasn’t what you expected or it’s not the genre for you – so don’t leave a shitty review! I think I was brought up a certain way and I would NEVER accept a gift and then criticize it if it was say, women’s shoes! I would simply find them a more suitable home and be grateful someone

Pills

I don’t know whether it is because I am a closet hypochondriac or just 20-years under the US health system, but I realized this week I drop an awful lot of pills. Now, I will hasten to add, many are vitamins and supplements but still. In hospital this week I realized that the doctors there have a system and it goes like this. Side effect? Ah, take this. After a while, you are taking pills for a side effect of the pills you took for a side effect of the antibiotics! We have become a society who simply believes that there is a pill for everything haven’t we? When you have time on your hands and nothing to do but browse the net, you start looking at things. For example,

RIP The Pink Bus

The world of writing puzzles me a lot and hence my fascination I suspect. As of today, I have a #1 bestseller and several other books in the top 50 of one category or another. I even have a fast selling audiobook hit as well. Given that, you might think that a new book of well written, thoroughly entertaining, well edited short stories on the theme of life after death and what happens when we die, would have a great chance of taking off….. Well, after 3 weeks, I am forced to conclude the The Pink Bus is hereby dead. Just like Monty Python’s parrot. RIP The Pink Bus. Strange, as I really think its my best work to date as well….. Hopefully, the audiobook version will sell a little.

Don’t Quit Your Day Job

The book writing business is one of those where a very small proportion of authors make any money. The rest of us hope for pennies and must remember to stay focused on the day job if we are to eat. As of today, I have written some 27 odd books across a wide range of topics and my experience to date falls into several buckets as follows; Published by a publishing Company Some people prefer to be ‘properly’ published. I have several books that were properly published by a publisher and my experience is that for someone starting out, it simply doesn’t make much sense. Some publishers will ask you to help ‘pay’ for putting the book out and yes, I have done that. I will never recoup that investment. Others

The Pink Bus

The Pink Bus and Other strange Tales from LaLa Land actually got its start a long time ago. I wrote a short story right into this blog around Christmas 2014 called The Meaning of Christmas and thought I’d keep a copy in my desktop folder just in case. I went back to it a few times, tweaked it, edited it and so on but couldn’t really think how to build upon it. Then, as things do, a few weeks ago, I started writing short stories. They simply poured out of me one after the other and they all seemed to be themed around death, reincarnation, ghosts and supernatural activity and the meaning of life in general. That was when I saw where the Meaning of Christmas belonged…. I honestly think
