Moon whispers – Coming Very Soon

My fourth collection of poetry – and I think my best (but then I would wouldn’t I?) is days away from publication. Here is what it looks like….. It will shortly be available from all Amazon sites and more in paperback form. I will probably also do a kindle version but I find issues with formatting poetry in kindle so it may appear a few days later. Meanwhile, here is what Dielle Ciesco, author of The Unknown Mother: A Magical Walk with the Goddess of Sound and Your True Voice: Tools for Embracing a Fully Expressed Life has to say about the collection… G. Michael Vasey understands the power of the word. In Moon Whispers, he takes obvious care not to convolute a simple message, exercising an economy of words

Buyer’s Confusion

I am in the market potentially for a bike. The Czechs love to cycle and there is much to see on a bike here and lots of bike paths and routes and so on. Its a bikers’ paradise.  Additionally, I just seem incapable of losing any weight whatever I do so I figure cycling more may help keep me fit, healthy and slimmer. But boy, how difficult it is to buy a bike! There seems to be around 20 odd brands and all of them make bikes in every category with minor differences and so my entry level bike choice probably numbers one of 30-40 different bike models and brands. Its no use asking the shop people which is the best value as they won’t tell you to go to

Mystery and Conspiracy

I don’t particularly like conspiracy theories or the people that like to propagate them.I have always found that the logical explanation is the most likely and I have no need for cults, lizard people, worldwide conspiracies, aliens or any of that ilk to explain things. Until now. Like many, I have been following the tragic story of the Malaysian Boeing 777. Now, I can understand how conspiracy theories occur as, let’s be honest, it hasn’t been handled very well by the authorities. Even worse, I can’t think of a single logical explanation for what seems to have occurred. In a world where we have ready answers for most things, Flight MH370 is a true mystery. It must be absolutely impossible for the relatives and those impacted directly by this event

Is Truth Relative?

The truth. We hear these two little words quite often. Two very important little words they are too. There are all types of truths and many of us spend our lives seeking truth. I once wrote, and indeed use it on my Facebook page, that the older I get the less I think I know about anything. Another way to say this would be that the older I get, the less I am certain of any truth – at least in the absolute sense. I don’t know what I am, nor what my purpose is. I don’t know what the Universe is nor its purpose – if there even is one. If there was, would I comprehend? These are the questions that I ask and the answers I seek in

The Importance of Asking Questions

Some days I wonder. About everything. I mean, there is a lot to wonder about isn’t there? Why do men have nipples? Why don’t Czech men know about deodorant? Why is GOD DOG spelt backwards? Why does Wayne Rooney get paid so much money? What happened to Trilobites? That sort of question. Questions to which there are really no definitive answers. My favorite question is ‘What am I?’ I see and interact with a world that I sense but I at times of perhaps total lunacy entertain the idea that it is My world. There is only me. Everything is me. It maybe sounds arrogant but I don’t mean it that way. There is just a gulf between the real (me) and what seems to be real (the world) that

Finding an Audience

How do you find an audience? Some people manage it. Others don’t. Is it luck? I don’t think it is necessarily talent – although my perceptions of talent my not be your view. I have blogged and written pretty much twice or more a week on this and other blogs since about 2004 or around 10-years. I don’t have much of an audience. My books don’t sell well. I have failed to find an audience. The hint though on how to build an audience was always right there. My single blog post about sex in the Czech Republic still gets more traffic than all my other writings put together. Is that a sad indictment of me or just a sad indictment full stop? Maybe I should give up? When I

The BIG questions

I found myself thinking deep thoughts for much of this last weekend. You see, I can’t just live my life and not ask What am I? what is this all about? Knowing that most likely I will never actually know just makes it worse for me. Strangely perhaps, these questions have arisen in my mind all of my life – even when I was a small boy. Though I know that I may never actually find an answer doesn’t stop me from searching for one (or many). It is what has driven me to meditation and contemplation. I also suspect that if there were an answer, it would simply be impossible to describe it to anyone else and that I may not even by capable of understanding. Given that this

A Premium on using Intelligence

I just read an article called ‘no, you are not entitled to an opinion‘. It’s worthwhile reading. The article talks in the context of the vaccination issue but it could equally well be talking about fracing, global warming, fukishima….. anything. You see these days everyone feels qualified to hold an opinion on everything whether qualified or not. I just read on a lady’s blog about fracing – in her opinion – backed up by a USA Today article she uses to validate her erroneous description of both fracing and the supposed issues around it. The USA Today article correctly points out that sometimes fracing can be improperly done and it can cause problems – not a reason to be anti-fracing but certainly a good reason to ensure that fracing activities
