The Fall

The summer that never was has faded away There is a chill in the air and the sky is clear gray The leaves begin to slowly turn to autumn shades Any warmth in our Sun is beginning to fade The cycle has turned Preparations afoot For a long cold winter Darkness is descending The nights become unending Hades peeks out of his cave Looking for Persephone To join him

Disappointed in Humanity

Just in the last few years I have found myself growing quite weary of many things such as politics, religion and so on. After 50-odd years of seeing the same old tired arguments back and forth I have come to the conclusion that frankly, people are gullible, silly or both.  I know how arrogant that sounds but I really don’t know how else to say it. Politicians and religious zealots are very clever and use tried and tested methods to disseminate their divisive and hate-filled rhetoric to a willing audience of people who propagate it without so much as a thought – myself included at times. I haven’t voted in years and I don’t think I will ever bother to do so again. Apathy has set in. I work in

Work Space Blog Hop

So, once again I have been ‘nominated‘ on one of these blog hop things… this time to show off my work space!! So here goes. I work from home in a small space fondly referred to as my office but in reality its the small guest bedroom and one could scarcely fling a cat in it… Strangely enough, it is almost the smallest room in our Brno apartment and, if you remove sleep hours from the equation, I probably spend 70% of my time sat in the corner of this small space. Rather bizarre when I come to think about it that way. It is my office, where I write, where I promote and market, where I meditate, where I deal with the mundane things like paying bills for example,

Free Stuff…..

These days when it comes to books and book promotion, a lot of people |(me included) will from time to time, give their work away for free. The general idea is that people will read it, like it, review it and buy more. If that philosophy works, it is a very small minority that write reviews and an even smaller minority who will then but something. In fact, I am not at all sure that this strategy really works. Some people claim giving away books for free is destroying the business altogether. Who knows? In other areas I would say that if something is free, people do not value it. And what about that U2/ Apple mess up with the free album? So what do you all think? Are free

Seeing the Truth

The truth. You hear those words quite a bit. But is there really any such thing as truth? Perhaps truth is something that’s actually only true for you? I have spent much of my life seeking the truth and now, not only have I yet to find the truth, I am no longer sure the truth actually exists. Here is why. Firstly, each of us has a sort of core of beliefs – things that we have been told are correct. This core is nurtured by our parents and then the educational system who teach us either what they accept as truth or that that they were taught as being truth and they have found nothing better to replace it with. Some things we are taught may be closer to

Nationalism

At college I joined the territorial army. The union jack and the national anthem always stirred my emotions. I was deeply proud of being British. I even flirted with nationalist politics but was frankly put off by the other people I met on the right wing fringes of the Tory party. Even then, I liked to buck the trend. It was trendy to be a leftie so I did the very opposite like the contrarian Aquarian that I am. But I grew up. Firstly, I traveled a lot. At first inside the UK with three years in the midlands, a year in Leeds, three years in Glasgow, three years in Aberdeen, 3 years in London. To be honest, my parents liked travel too so even by age 16 I had

Radio, Radio

On Monday I will be doing a couple more radio shows. First, I will be a guest on the Halloween special show of  Sloth and Money radio talking about The Last Observer and some of the strange experiences I had growing up. Later on (3am), I will be talking to Christine Corda on Kiss me, I’m Psychic radio again about The Last Observer, Psychic experiences and so on. I am looking forward to both as I find these radio interviews really a lot of fun. Recently, I was also featured on the X Zone radio with Rob McConnell and will appear again as we simply did not have sufficient time to finish the conversation. You can hear that interview here. Apparently, there a few more radio interviews in the pipeline
