Fall Cometh

The temperatures dropped significantly on Sunday – from in the 20’s to 7C today. The leaves of the trees outside my window are beginning to discolor and even fall already along with the conkers that my daughter loves to collect. Fall cometh. Actually, I quite like Autumn. The colors and the earthy smells. The damp and even the cold. We used to go camping right up to November when I was a boy and the final camping weekend was always down near Goole by the River Humber. By the first weekend in November, many trees are already laid bare and leaves blew around in large numbers or lay in damp heaps sticky and wet. The air had a chill in it and by the relative warmth of a major estuary

Bubbles within bubbles, wheels within wheels , we are each a universe , complete with our own planet earth and surrounding cosmos. I call it My Virtual Reality Sphere . Top of The Pops and Santa

When I was a boy TV’s had curtains and a strange silver dot that lasted for ages after you switched off. The only phone I was familiar with was a big black hard plastic thing in the hall with a rotary dialer in metal. Once, I picked it up and dialed a number at random marveling at that slow click, click, click sound it made as that rotary moved slowly back. Santa Claus answered and we had a great chat until my Mother found me and took the phone off me. Shame, I was just telling Santa what I wanted for Christmas too, My Mother told me I shouldn’t talk to strangers – I didn’t think Santa was a stranger! I remember the radio. It was a big black thing

Is the Outside Inside?

We know that everything we experience is experienced in our brain and that we actually see, feel, hear is actually via our brain’s ability to interpret our environment. This is science. So I guess what we believe to be on the outside is, in fact, inside of us….We are a cloud of atoms and molecules within a bigger cloud of atoms and molecules and my mind boggles when I try to think about this. The real part of me is simply consciousness and what that actually is, I think from a scientific point of view, is still a mystery. If everything really is inside of us – or, our experience of our environment is inside of us, then logic suggests that we must create this reality as an interpreted image

Inner Journeys ReVisited

When I wrote Inner Journeys some of the first people to read it were my family – parents and brothers. I recall being a bit worried about what they would think and say but to my surprise their comments were to correct inaccuracies as they saw them in my narrative in the book! In the book, I recount my first experience of well… something. I was perhaps 3-years old and was sleeping in my bedroom when I awoke for some reason. I saw a blue elf jump out of the mirror in the wardrobe and look at me. Of course, I screamed as a small child might. Not so said my Father. His recollection is that a blue elf jumped out of the mirror and shot me with a little

Thoughts On Meditation

When I first started out on this path, I was very concerned about whether I was doing it right. What was meditation and visualization? Eventually, I seemed to stumble into it though and despite occasionally questioning my version of meditation and visualization against what I read as other people’s experience, I began to realize that what I do works for me and gained confidence. I now realize that I have in fact spent many innumerable hours meditating without even realizing that I was doing it. As a child growing up in England, I had quite a distance to walk everyday back and forth to school. To kill the boredom of the walk, I would imagine that I was a pop star with my own band and a song in the

Waking From The Great Sleep

Looking around, I think that most people are totally unaware of what and who they truly are. Occultists have referred to this as ‘sleeping’. The vast majority of us are sleeping through life pursuing some materialistic dream like children distracted by shiny new toys. I can feel myself being sucked in to this quite often now that I am aware of it. Glued to the TV, or lusting after a new and faster sports car, our attention gets sharply focused on the outer world around us and that inner voice that speaks quietly to us gets drowned out by the noise of the world. WE Butler, a famous occultist and founder of the Servants of the Light, discusses this at great length in his lectures to the Ibis society*. The
