Fate, Destiny and Free Will

The Vengeful Fates cackle While spinning their eternal web Objective achieved The plot in place They watch and wait From The Eagle’s Saga – A poem from Weird Tales: Otherworld Poetry by Dr. G. Michael Vasey, 2006 Free will. We all very much like to believe that we have freedom of choice. That we have the power to make the decisions in our lives. Indeed, those decisions are our life as they weave the patterns, twists and turns of our existence. But do we? Hermes, when asked about the nature of ordinary man – that is, of man that had not entered the stream of development that leads to initiation – he said that such a man or woman was merely a ‘procession of fate’. from The Zelator by Mark

Discipline and Routine

I am a man who likes routine. I have to admit that, though this may make me dull and boring and isn’t necessarily an Aquarian trait, I like routine. What I mean is that I like a schedule. Change is inevitable but lack of routine creates anxiety in me….Sticking to a routine requires discipline. Just recently, I don’t appear capable of that self-discipline. The result is that I become a mess of anxiety that achieves less, does nothing and, since this becomes an endless cycle, I will eventually disappear up my own arse I am sure. Part of the problem is that I am sick and cannot muster the energy to apply the self-discipline. I have finally given up on the ginger, lemon and honey teas, disgusting-colored fruit and vegie

School Days

After posting the story of how I was nearly became a member of the rock group The Police, my best friend from those days – Steve – and I compared notes. He pointed out that not only was my memory correct but they also offered him a job as a roadie! And they did too…. However, posting that story got me to thinking. What a hell of a life I have had! Really, very few complaints – well, more money would always be useful but other than that…. So, my next few posts will deal with some events from my life and how I became me…. I couldn’t wait to leave home and Hull. Wolfreton School did me well in that I got a good education – 9 “O” levels,

Jesus and Mary

A few days ago, the Bardon group I follow was discussing the fact that there is a website that purports to be written by the returned Christ. The site is simple and contains a number of communications or letters presumably channeled. I haven’t had time to really read everything there yet but I have to say that this material is extremely enlightening and in line with what I see is a general trend or unfoldment of truth. In his first letter, Jesus gives an account of his childhood and his experience of baptism and what he then learned during his 6-weeks in the desert. You have to laugh at his account of how he was as a child and how he reacted against the devout nature of his mother –

Big Trouble

Having just come back from a quick 3-day camping trip with no real connection to the world due to a flat phone battery and no time to charge it for more than a few minutes, I was immediately inundated with the news this morning on CNN. As I read about all the problems, wars and mayhem I have to say that there is just one thing that if applied by everyone would solve most of all of these issues…. live and let live. Why is it that folk feel like they are bound to force others to believe what they believe, live like they live and behave like they behave? OK so you may think I need to be ‘saved’ from myself. I have news for you – go fix

Trying to Deny Reality

Apparently, in Russia, parliament just passed a bill making it illegal to tell children that gay people exist by 434-0. The bill goes much further than that of course in its defense of ‘traditional sexuality’. Russia, it seems to me is stepping ever closer to the totalitarian nonsense from which it all too recently escaped. In fact, I think its a more dangerous country now than it was before because it pretends to be a democracy. It never ceases to amaze me how hard some countries, politicians or normal folks go to deny reality and restrict freedom. If there was one thing I could do to change the world it would be this – to teach people that its OK to have your religion, beliefs or views but to stop

Life in Bite-Sized Chunks

Being a father of three sons and a daughter, I often need to come up with advice about life. Frankly, I don’t feel particularly qualified because I am still trying to figure it out myself. There was a song I used to like that alluded to this saying something along the lines of once you have life figured out, its gone. So, what can I tell the kids about life? One thing I have come to think is that making plans is somewhat useless. Most books and experts these days will tell you that a plan is a must but you know, I can’t agree. It’s good to have a vision and dreams for sure and its OK to chase those dreams. In fact, we must have dreams but a

Dear Mr. President

Hi our Prezza! How the hell are you? Had enough vacations on my tax dollar, thrown enough star studded parties yet to actually DO something – anything? Or still pinning the blame for everything (like all of your loathsome kind) on your predecessor. Yes, I’m sorry, I don’t care much for politicians of any party or persuasion. Actually, to tell you the truth, what I want to ask you about is rather selfish of me but here goes…. When I became a US citizen, I was quite proud, especially when the examiner at the joke of a test that passes for a citizenship examination told me “Congrats, you got all the answers correct, most Americans couldn’t do that!” “Really?” I asked, “How many would they get right then?” “Three or

Sex Sells

Ha…. that got ya didn’t it. Sex really does sell but this post isn’t about sex. I was just being sneaky hoping to catch your eye and stimulate your hormones…. Sales. If you write books, you like to see them sell. At least I do. I don’t write books because they look pretty and therefore wonderful on my shelves at home. Nope, I want people to actually read the buggers. OK, so I could give them away, and I do, quite a few anyway, but really I’d quite like to live as a writer. That means generating cash and at my age, I’m not gonna be able to do that shaking my booty (actually, at no point in my life would that have been viable). So, yep, sorry my friends…
