Prayer and its Power….

I just finished a book by Mark Stavish called The Inner Way – The Power of Prayer and Belief in Spiritual Practice. Prayer is a very powerful tool that we have in our armory of magickal tools and one that is often overlooked. This is my review from Strange Book Reviews – my book review website. Five-stars from me for a wonderful book. There are books that you read, enjoy, perhaps assimilate a little of, and then consign to the dusty shelf of books once read but never retouched. There are other books that you read turning page after page, eager to move on, knowing that to properly assimilated, the book will need to be kept close at hand to be read, reread and dipped into when necessary. These latter types

A Meeting with God

In the run up to Halloween, here is another true and strange tale of the paranormal. I will post a new strange true story each day so don’t miss them. A few weeks into my college days, as I made my way from the Students’ Union building to my student flat on the 19th floor of a campus building, I noticed a rather suspicious looking character who seemed to be following me around. As I entered one of the elevators in the ground-floor of the building, he followed peering sideways at me but looking away whenever I tried to catch his eye. As the elevator arrived at my floor, I was hoping it was all just my imagination and that perhaps he would continue up to the top floor above

It’s A Mystery

There is so much that we do not know and probably can never know. I have to be honest and say that that pisses me off! Among the first thoughts that I can recall thinking were things like who am I? What am I? and things have not changed. I still ask such questions on a daily basis and I am still frustrated in the knowledge that I may never know the answers. I know that I am something – I think, I feel – I am. But what am I? Will I die and simply cease to exist? What is at the end of space? What is it all for? Is there a reason for all this – the out there – what is it anyway? It’s pointless I

A Pain in the Neck

Today, I woke up with a pain in my neck and upper back which rapidly became a headache to boot. I wish there were chiropractors in the Czech Republic but there are not so I make do with a heat patch and two headache tablets. I know that the heat patch will probably do the trick and that the headache pills will not. It’s bizarre really but I had this problem for about 15-years now and it must be related to the way I have slept. My chiropractor in The Woodlands could fix it with a quick twist of the neck! He always told me I had knocked a vertebrae out of alignment high up in my neck most likely by hanging my head off of the back of the

Awash

Sometimes, in meditation, you get a sense of nothing much matters. That for all the hustle and bustle and all of those pressing issues and events, it is all an illusion designed to stop you from, well, meditating. It feels as if the stillness and the sense of the eternal moment is all there really is. It feels as if you have come home and you really never actually want to leave again to go back to the nonsense that is your life. An eternal moment of stillness. An eternal moment of connectedness. In that moment, many things seem to come together and you understand. You are offered a glimpse of eternity and of understanding and you grasp it but just for that eternal moment and then its gone again

Ripples

In the interview with Rob McConnell on X Zone radio, the concept of ripples came up several times to explain how we impact upon one another. It made me think of this post from Asetroth’s Domain I wrote a little while ago. Asteroth’s Domain is my blog that is more focused on magic – please do visit it. In meditation, I often see ripples in a pool. They start at a point and move outwards as small waves. If the small wave meets an object, an interference pattern occurs. Thoughts are like ripples. They start with a focus. Something triggers that focus but then, if we are able to, the thought expands like a ripple moving ever outwards into the world having who knows what impacts out there. Words, words

Two Weeks of Silence

After today, I can promise you almost two weeks of silence from G Michael Vasey. While I am gone, I will imagine you all running out to buy my books and reading my archive of delicious articles on this blog and on Asteroth’s Domain Me? well, I will be laying in the sun, swimming and drinking cold beers to cool off in Kos. I can’t wait. I have been neglecting Asteroth’s Domain which I reserve for more esoteric articles mainly. I guess, I simply haven’t had much to say esoterically recently. Instead, I have been focused on building a business (Commodity Technology Advisory LLC) and trying to build a platform for my writing. Both are non-stop activities and can slowly eat away every minute of the day one way or

Three Books of Poetry….

I have three books of poetry in print. All are available on Amazon sites in paperback and Kindle formats. This is their story…. I began writing poems when I was a boy. It was an outlet. A few years ago, I found a huge pile of handwritten poems that I had written dating back to 1974 and, trust me, some were just downright embarrassing! Some, however, weren’t all that bad. I put these in a pile and typed them into MS WORD for better keeping and put them all in my poetry directory on my PC. I had about 50 poems there so I once again selected what I thought were some of the best and made them into a book. It was self-published off course but it was a

An Excerpt from The Last Observer

Edward looked into Stan’s face. There was expectancy about the look he gave Stan. “I am sure that you have many questions Stanley but take your time. I have as long as we need.” Somehow, Stan didn’t like this feeling that he had around Edward sometimes. It was a feeling that Edward was entirely in control and knew exactly how Stanley felt. “Well,” he began, “I have been doing some research along the lines that you had suggested.” He paused to think. “And, I have reviewed the files that you left with me as well.” Stanley could feel Edwards gaze. “What do you mean by the term observer?” he asked. “Well, an observer is someone who has the power to create reality,” replied Edward. “But, everyone creates their own reality

The BIG questions

I found myself thinking deep thoughts for much of this last weekend. You see, I can’t just live my life and not ask What am I? what is this all about? Knowing that most likely I will never actually know just makes it worse for me. Strangely perhaps, these questions have arisen in my mind all of my life – even when I was a small boy. Though I know that I may never actually find an answer doesn’t stop me from searching for one (or many). It is what has driven me to meditation and contemplation. I also suspect that if there were an answer, it would simply be impossible to describe it to anyone else and that I may not even by capable of understanding. Given that this
