The Devil Rode Out

When I was a teenager, I was experiencing all kinds of strange things that really scared the hell out of me. I have documented a lot of that in my book – Inner Journeys: Explorations of the Soul including the poltergeist-type activity and the visitations by some ghostly presence. It’s all in that book! However, I remained really interested in magic and the so called ‘occult’ at the time devouring many books on the subject. In the midst of the activity and the interest, I watched a film on TV one christmas that both enflamed my interest but also scared me very deeply. Looking back on the movie now the effects are pretty poor by comparison to modern movies but back then – wow! More important though was that in

As we approach the weekend, and being rather desperate to see some sales, I thought I’d repost this extract for the Last Observer….. its a good little read and available on Amazon and all other book sites at a reasonable price for paperback and or ebook.

Rerun – I Used to be Able to Fly

I am as sick as a dog and not feeling up to doing anything so I am running an old article that I like… I hope you all do too! “The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.” ― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan I posted this quote on Facebook last night on the Last Observer page. For a novel about the nature of reality and magic, it struck me as a darn fine quote. Magic really does involve belief or faith. Faith really can move mountains. Magic rituals, far from being some evil activity performed naked with the lights out, are simply a very traditional human activity designed to help act out and therefore convince the subconscious and other areas of the psyche, that

Time

I remember my Grandmother telling me that time sped up as you got older. I was probably 5 or 6-years old at the time and, for me, time was a mystery. On the one hand, Christmas just seemed to take eons to arrive and then, when it did, it was over in a flash. The month of December was like torture really. Each day, you would open one door on that advent calendar but each day seemed like a century. Now, of course, I understand my Grandmother’s point of view. Weeks and months flash by so fast I could swear it was still August if it weren’t for the weather and falling leaves. Time is a funny thing. We can measure it very precisely but what exactly are we measuring?

I Used to be able to fly…..

Magic rituals, far from being some evil activity performed naked with the lights out, are simply a very traditional human activity designed to help act out and therefore convince the subconscious and other areas of the psyche, that something is so. That, if you like, we can still fly. I discuss this in Inner Journeys where I use the example of projecting success and

Looking for Likes

Its a strange world. Here I am looking for likes on Facebook. It’s all about social networking and marketing you see. I’d like to get 500 likes before my new novel is published in around 3 months time. Trouble is, without the book, a cover, or anything other than a description, its tough to attract people to like the page. As time goes on, I can start to unveil some details, a cover, an endorsement, the first paragraph etc. but for now all I can do is ask people to like it on faith…. You can help me out and like the Last Observer page here. Many thanks…. And, if you feel really generous, here is the FB page for my last book – The Mystical Hexagram – written with
