Fake News and The Fight For Reality

When I wrote The Last Observer, I never imagined that a real fight for reality would actually happen. However, inundated with information, we are subject to all sorts of reality creating content – some of it fake and much of it it twisted. Be aware that there is a battle going on for your mind and this battle isn’t what it seems. You see your mind is a powerful reality creating device and if someone can hijack your mind and get it working in a certain way, they can use you to create the reality that they want. The media and politicians, religious zealots, and others have always used this technique but today, the tools to do so are easy to obtain. We tend to surround ourselves with reality reinforcing

Life

This track started life (!) as a very melodic riff that I had been playing with for years. I overlaid a picked guitar sound and a slow bass line to get the sound I wanted. I asked my daughter Deni to add her voice to the backing vocals which is her and I going ‘oooo’. She had fun doing that and her voice adds sweetness to the song in my opinion. As usual, the last thing was to record the vocals and write the lyrics. Also as usual, the lyrics simply fell out as I listened to the track… Don’t despair Don’t give up It’s all we have And this is our life Life is passing me by But it’s too soon to say goodbye So much to do yet

There Is A Reality Creation Battle Going On

We live in a co-created reality and as a result, what you think and what emotion and imagination you put behind that thought, creates your reality and co-creates the reality we live in. I’m not going to defend that statement here as I have discussed it at length in many other blog posts and books. What is important is that there is a big battle going on and it is messing with your head trying to get you to cooperate and form a particular reality. As a result of the internet and social media, it is a huge battle because it is easier to influence now than ever before. We used to live in a controlled world. We consumed our information from a few sources and those sources were controlled.

Oi! Wake Up!

In recent months I have been dreaming a lot. Dreams that go on and on even allowing for a bathroom break. Today I noted that this type of dreaming always seems to occur in periods of realization for me. I haven’t properly meditated in months and I have been thrashing around like a beached whale unable to act on anything. I marked this down perhaps to depression and periodically talked myself into starting again. However, each new initiative was short lived. Then a couple of nights ago I saw a movie on TV. It made me realize that all too often I look outside for answers that actually are to be found inside. Suddenly, a rush of realizations came to me. One was that I already know what I need

What A Week= A Clash of Systems

Last Thursday all was well. Then Thursday night, I had a feeling that something wasn’t right. By Friday, I was so weak I more or less spent the entire day sleeping and my stomach was on fire. By that evening, I was spending more time in the bathroom than I would usually like and it went downhill from there. Saturday, we went to the hospital. I was shivering one minute and sweating like crazy the next. The funny thing was, we couldn’t seem to find the emergency room. Walking all around this huge rambling hospital was not something I really wanted to do. There were a few choice remarks about how well signposted it was and that you could die trying to be saved. We later discovered that there really

Thoughts On Death

With so many celebrities dying this last couple of weeks, I have been thinking about the subject of death. A theory that particularly caught my imagination was that of Anthony Peake who, using many lines of research, has a theory that we fall out of time at death. There is much more to his theory and those like it that are often picked up by the media that I won’t go into here. However, this thought intrigues me a lot. I have written about time quite often (for example, see this Bowie motivated post) and via meditation I have decided that time is simply a construct of the human mind to give some context to our experience of life. An aspect of ourselves is eternal or rather timeless. It operates

Sometimes, You Have to Wonder….

This weekend, I was in Dolni Morava. There is a ski resort of sorts there…. I wasn’t skiing so for a couple of hours or so, I was left to wander around. It was pretty chilly and so I ended up in the restaurant which was packed. I ordered my self a hot chocolate in Czech after waiting my turn. The man, a tall and thin guy, looked at me as if I were and alien. I repeated myself. “Deutsche,” he said. A bit puzzled, I repeated my request in Czech. After all, its not a difficult sentence – “Horka chocolada prosim”. The man looked quite angry – “Deutsche” he said again. “English?” I asked. He repeated, almost spat “Deutsche”. The waitress beside of him looked quite shocked at this

Suzi Q

Last week, I went to see Suzi Quatro here in Brno. Back in the early 1970’s, she covered a lot of wall space in my bedroom…. I had never had an opportunity to see her live though. So in 2015, at the age of 65, I had to smile as she shook her leather covered bum at the audience…..and rocked us back the years. She still has it. I hope I do in another 10-years. A lot of 70’s bands pass through this part of the world. I have seen Slade and Smokie too in recent months. The shows are always packed. The one 70’s band I would love to have seen though is T.Rex. I had the chance back in 1977 to see them and at last minute something

Nothing

I arrived in Brno, Czech Republic in late summer 2006 with a small suitcase. Everything else was left in Houston – car included. It was then I learned something truly important…… I DID NOT MISS ANY OF THOSE THINGS! I did miss people. My sons, my friends. But the stuff? The car I had dreamed of. The big house. Swimming pool. Nope. All I needed was the a change of clothes, my tooth brush, a few photos and my phone. A place to stay and some food. Amazed. I was.

Just When You Think You Have It Made

I was walking down Gorton Rd, Willerby, on my way to school one morning when the most amazing car I had ever seen went by. It was 1974 and I had just seen a 2-seater Mercedes Benz pass by. I would never forget. Several years later, living in The Woodlands, Texas in my big 4 bed home with $50k swimming poll, gazebo, Mercedes SUV and everything one could ever really want, I realized my car lease was almost up. I called the leasing company and enquired after the dream…. a 2-seater Mercedes convertible. To my amazement, I found that I could indeed afford one. A month later, it arrived. It was beautiful. Metallic silver with an automatic retractable roof that folded into the trunk. Patent leather black interior and that
