Prague and Magic

One might think the Czech Republic would be teeming with occultists, mystics, and magicians. After all, at one point in history it was the center of the Universe for alchemy and magic and even John Dee spent time here along with Edward Kelley. The Holy Roman Emperor, Rudolf II, was extremely interested in the occult and gathered many alchemists and occultists in Prague in the 16th Century. Apparently, however, Dee and Kelley didn’t impress the Emperor and instead found favor with a Bohemian Count instead. Rudolf patronized natural philosophers including the astronomers Tycho Brahe and Johannes Kepler. He was also the earliest recorded owner of the mysterious Voynich manuscript. Rudolf even performed his own alchemical experiments in a private laboratory. According to Wikipedia, when Rudolf was a prince, Nostradamus prepared

Reality Quotes

To support some of the concepts explored in The Last Observer, I have been posting and will continue to post, quotes from people on the nature of reality and magic. It’s actually quite amazing when you start looking for these quotes, how much agreement there seems to be between widely diverse people on the topic of reality………. Let’s explore a few; [I can’t accept quantum mechanics because] “I like to think the moon is there even if I am not looking at it.” Albert Einstein We do not need magic to change the world. We carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better. J. K. ROWLING, speech to Harvard Alumni Association, 2008 “Every man lives in a world of his own creation,

The Inner Child

Some of us grow up different. Don’t ask me why. Things started when I was a very small boy. One night, when I had been put down to bed in the back bedroom of the small semi my parents owned in west Hull, I recall watching a little blue man jump out of the mirror of the kid’s wardrobe I had in there. As if that were not enough, this little blue guy pulled out a gun, shot at me, and then leaped out through the window (through the glass). If I had been a bit older, I might have seen where things were headed generally, because my Dad was in that room so fast I don’t think I had even yet started to scream. I was so shocked. He,

The Gospel of Mary

The Gospel of Mary (Magdalene) is a fascinating but incomplete document that we have only recently had an opportunity to read since it was only relatively recently published. It makes you wonder what else is laying out there in the desert yet to be found? This is a very esoteric document in which Jesus says there is no sin except that which we introduce, He discusses the nature of reality too! In fact, this is worthy of multiple reads and consideration. I am one who thinks that Jesus did exist and was a Master. His message has been hijacked by evil dry men who use it to control us through fear unfortunately (You will go to Hell!!) when it should have been a liberating and magical message. Luckily, blind people

Life as a Symbol

I read recently somewhere on the internet that inner contacts can be viewed simply as symbols. I apologize to whoever wrote this as I cannot recall where I read it and who wrote it but it was a bit of a critique of the concept of inner contacts altogether! But the thought has persisted with me. Standing outside just now puffing on a cigarette, I noticed a mall patch of moss. It was bright green and truly beautiful. As I noticed the moss I started to look around and observe. The trees, the blue sky, the birds singing. The amazing beauty of nature. All symbols. Life is a moving movie of symbols that we simply need to observe and puzzle out their meaning. That bright green moss, that little islands

The Story of Inner Journeys: Exploration of the Soul

Inner Journeys: Explorations of the Soul started as as an idea that I shared one day at a workshop with Dolores ashcroft-Nowicki. To my utter amazement, she thought it was a fabulous idea and she encouraged me from start to finish.. The concept was to write about what brought me to a 5-year course with the SOL that involved meditation every day more or less for those 5-years. So, despite the fact I am really a nobody, the book is strongly autobiographical but I hope that in it people see shared experiences. The second half of the book are the real experiences I had with the course including how I learned to relax, meditate effectively and what I learned about myself in those moments of deep meditation. I used extracts

Celebrating My Dad

I remember one day a few years ago looking around a cemetery with Dad. We were researching our family name together. I heard my Dad say something like ‘Oh my God” and looked up to see him appearing very pale and shocked. He was looking at a headstone that read “Charles Neville Vasey”. What was astonishing was that this Charles Neville Vasey had been born in the same year as our Dad but died quite young. Dad was shaken but I know he was also very happy to have lived so much longer than his namesake. I can truly say that I have never met anyone like my Dad. He somehow found a way to develop and share interests with all three of his sons no matter how different we

Comte De Gabalis

One of my favorite books is Comte De Gabalis. I was introduced to it by Gary L. Stewart, founder of the CRC who simply suggested that I should read it. That was several years ago and I continue to read and re-read this book. Do I understand it? Nope. I get glimpses from it and it makes me think a lot but I just keep reading it and reading it. What I would really like to do I suppose is start a bit of a discussion about this book and its meaning. So if anyone out there reads this – chip in please….. If you haven’t read it then consider picking up a copy of it and then having a bit of a discussion perhaps?

The Gospel of Thomas

Just recently I have seen a lot of movies at home and I couldn’t help seeing some coincidences in terms of the movies and my thinking at the moment. Lets take for example the Bruce Willis movie – Surrogates – isn’t this a good analogy for how most of us truly are – dead? We are surrogates hiding behind our masks and facades pretending to be people we really are not because we are afraid to be who we actually are or we simply don’t know… we are the dead, we are surrogates. Anyone who has read my book – Inner Journeys – will also recollect that as a child I used to have the idea – strongly envisioned – that I was a surrogate. Hooked up to a machine

The Art of Meditation – Part II

Having learned how to relax and found a suitable location where we will not be disturbed, the next phase in meditation is the actual meditation itself. In general, there are two or perhaps three methods of meditating; • Focus on a word, phrase, image and drill down into it; • Keep the mind blank and allow images to arise; • Guided meditation – also know as ‘Pathworking’ Let’s look at each in turn. Focused Meditation In focused meditation we already know what it is we wish to meditate on. It can be a useful technique when you want to examine something and really drill down into it. An example is perhaps the better way to examine focused meditation. We have read a book and enjoyed it but it really made
