Dad and Magick

I was thinking tonight about the fact that I always had the thought that my Father had something important to tell me. We discussed it a few times but never could come up with anything that seemed significant. Tonight, I was thinking about magick, reality and imagination. Suddenly a thought popped into my head. Driving around and around the block in Brno one night with my Dad sat next to me looking for the elusive parking space Dad said “When I need a parking space I just believe there will be one and you know, there always is.” Blow me down with a feather – my Dad was a magician and in that one innocent statement he described the art. I am sure I heard him chuckle…. likeheartlaughterwowsadangry0

Living a Double Life

And now for a small expression of frustration! Actually, this is another take on what is a theme for me I think. You see I seem to be a double act. On the one hand we have the ordinary me. I can be described as a somewhat cantankerous, somewhat perverse person who is prone to be lazy, probably selfish and always seems to have no time. I am ‘sucked in’ by the sheer pace and complexity of life; big job, lot’s of stress, worried about the kids, worried about the fact that I am worried, scared half shitless when I look in a mirror and realize I have wrinkles, gray hair and a belly and time is running out. Frustrated that I cannot quit smoking and I seem to have

Poems for the Little Room

This morning I went down to the post office with a delivery slip. I had hoped it was a shipment of the Mystical Hexagram but in fact it was five copies of my second poetry book from Lulu called Poems for the Little Room. I had never before ordered a copy so it was the first time I had seen it on paper…. Well, I must congratulate Lulu. It is beautifully put together and I am really very happy with it. Having said that, it is rather pricey for a little book but still…. The quality more than makes up for it. The book contains a bunch of more recent poems combined with photographs taken by my partner and together, it makes for a pleasant experience especially given the quality

The Eternal Return

Waves of different wavelengths Hang close to eternity Eyes that can see Collapsing waves of light In creation of reality Day-to-day visions of me Still just the reality of An underlying actuality The timelessness of eternity With a traveling slit to see My now forever drifting Observing and creating Past, present and future Side-by-side An eternal returning ride I think I have been reading too much Anthony Peake recently! likeheartlaughterwowsadangry0

The Fool

In Inner Journeys, I took some of my magickal diary extracts and interspersed them through the book for effect and to reinforce the content…. Here is one from the book on The Fool. The Fool seems foolish because he is not limited by rules or conventions – the barriers that we create for ourselves in this world. I say that I can’t do something because I believe that I cannot or I have been told that I cannot but the Fool has no expectations and does whatever. Not knowing that “it cannot be done” he does it anyway. The limitations that we apply to ourselves do not apply to the Fool. This is not to say that natural laws can be broken but that self-limitations do not exist. As the

The Labyrinth of Time by Anthony Peake

Time is probably the greatest enigma of them all and yet it is our most precious commodity. In my busy daily life it seems to me that time is getting faster and faster and, the older I get, its speed simply increases. Yet there are still 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day. There are though moments when time stops and I instinctively understand that time is unreal. In meditative states, time becomes what it probably really is – an illusion created to bring order to my existence. Time is the topic addressed in Anthony Peake’s book “The Labyrinth of Time”. Peake’s style is to explore every conceivable avenue around and through a topic and so we are presented with subjects ranging from quantum physics and
